Recently the Commission President Von der Leyen announced, despite the advice of its expert group, it will introduce gas, nuclear and intensive farming in the green taxonomy – the classification system that is supposed to bring clarity to the financial sector and fight greenwashing. The consequences of such a decision would destroy the credibility on EU’s new ‘green standards’ and allow what we see as fraud, whereby ‘green funds’ are effectively steered towards environmentally unsustainable activities.
